Malawi has launched the third phase of Polio vaccination campaign to run from August 11-14 2022.
Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda said high risk group are the unvaccinated or those that have received fewer doses of polio vaccines.
Chiponda advised parents and guardians of under-5 children to get them vaccinated.
She urged: "Any child from zero to 15 years of age with an acute onset of laccid paralysis or weakness is supposed to be taken to the nearest health facility for treatment and also for the doctors to see if it is polio or not."
Polio is characterised by irreversible paralysis mainly in children zero to fifteen years of age.
Normally a child would present to a health facility with a cute onset of limb weakness which progresses to paralysis.
