Malawi's main opposition Democratic Progressive Party has moved the courts to nullify the 2020 fresh presidential election results.
DPP filed the application challenging the 2020 fresh presidential election citing the decision by High Court Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda which said four of the party's commissioners were not duly appointed.
The four appointed by former president Peter Mutharika were Jean Mathanga, Linda Kunje, Steve Duwa, Adrian Nanthuru were consequently removed from the Commission.
But the DPP is arguing that the election should be nullified because it was overseen by Commissioners who were not duly appointed.
When nullifying the appointment of the four DPP nominated commissioners, Justice Kenyatta Nyirenda ruled that the judgement will have no bearing on validity of the elections.
However DPP through its lawyers is challenging the ruling.
They want the presidential elections nullified including those of members of Parliament and councillors.
